Five Easy Tips To Achieve A Permanent Weight Loss

by Jan McBarron MD, ND (Natural Remedy News)

Everyone who has ever lost weight swears they will never gain it back. Statistics demonstrate that over 96% of all persons will gain their weight back within 18 months; and often gain more than they lost in the first place. Clearly, the road to a permanent weight loss is NOT paved with willpower alone. So what is the “secret” to a permanent weight loss?

As a Board Certified Bariatric (weight loss) Medical Doctor, and having lost over 50 pounds, finally and permanently here are some tips.

  1. Quit dieting. Dieting implies a temporary situation. Stop feeling like you must deprive yourself of foods you enjoy. Instead enjoy them once a week in moderation.
  2. Add food. Food is defined as substances that give your body nourishment. Add a minimum of one fruit and vegetable every day. Three of each daily is preferred.
  3. Stop demanding you must exercise. Instead, start moving daily with a commitment to just a steady 10 minute walk. Again commit to this every day. If it rains take an umbrella. More on walking: Walk Your Way to Health
  4. Accept imperfection. Some days will be better than others. If you “blow it” one day, restart immediately, not “tomorrow”.
  5. Drink more water. Your body is over 70% water and for every molecule of fat you lose, you need 2 molecules of water. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water every day (unless instructed by your doctor otherwise). Soda, tea and Flavored Water are not water- if you would not wash your hair or car in it, it’s not water. How much water? Click Here

Permanent weight loss is about gaining health. In my next weight loss blog, I’ll discuss why we just can’t follow the above tips. It’s not that obvious.

    Dr. Dr. Barron,
It’s not that easy to walk. I’ve got an intensely painful plantar fasciitis/heel spur going on, and I’m not walking anywhere on it. Limping is also not so great. My adrenals are low, and exercise is just not that much fun, as it takes me a long while to recover. I still have to be strong enough to cook and take care of the house. while the fibromyalgia that plagued me for the last decade is much diminished, the last little bits of getting the adrenals up to where they’d ought to be prevent me from stressing my system further by dieting. But I need to get rid of at least twenty pounds, as that’s a lot of extra weight to carry around, too! What to do?

    TO: Wendy B, Colorado:
As someone who suffered in the past from terrible plantar faciitis and the intense pain that accompanies it I understand your dilemma. I went to the “best” podiatrist at Johns Hopkins and ended up with my knees a mess when I tried the custom made orthotics. Then a friend recommended an over the counter shoe insert called Pinnicle shoe inserts which I located by looking on the internet. I bought them at a shoe store with a new pair of sneakers.
I still had hip pain which Dr. McBarron cured with Flexcin. Even a 100 pounds overweight I am PAIN FREE and taking hot yoga for my joints every day and walking home FIVE miles. I am dead tired but lossing weight. I had to try anything and everything and even had to listen to my mom, which at the rip old age of 53 was kind of humbling. But, my mom was right and Flexcin worked for me.
    Peace,

  4. There are really lot of proven ways in loosing weight and drinking plenty of water is one of the oldest proven ways to reduce a few pounds from the start of any diet. Taking lots of liquid makes you feel fuller in an extended time. It is advisable to take 8 glasses or more a day to see result in loosing weight. I divided my food intake into 5 small meals and never allow myself to feel full. Just enough food intake. I also take herbs like green tea and hoodia gordonii.
