Take Care of Your Heart…It’s the Only One You Have!

  1. Heart disease is the reason I ended up in the health field. Both of my parents died of heart attacks in their early fifties and I vowed to do all I could to protect my own heart. I couldn’t change my genetics but I set out to learn all I could about how to lead a heart healthy life well beyond my fifties. The controlable variable are eating a heart healthy diet (I follow the Mediterreaean Diet), exercising every day, not smoking, and taking protective supplements like the ones recommended above.

    So far so good. I have outlived my parents with no signs of concern for my heart, But I do take the above measures very seriously and remain as committed to them as ever.

    I think one of the biggest hurdles for many people outside of their genes is changing their habits- their lifestyles for the better and remaining committed to that lifestyle.
