Arthritis Inflammation and Pain

Arthritis Inflammation and Pain

Arthritis is generally defined as the inflammation of one or more joints. It involves the breakdown of cartilage, which normally protects a joint, allowing it to move smoothly and it also absorbs shock when pressure is placed on the joint, such as when you walk. Without the normal amount of cartilage, the bones rub together, causing pain, swelling (inflammation), and stiffness.  In some people, the body’s defense system is in overdrive and it triggers an inflammatory response when there aren’t any foreign substances to fight off. This may be an autoimmune disease, where the body’s normally protective immune system causes damage to its own tissues.

There are over 100 different forms of arthritis.  The most common form, osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease), is a result of trauma to the joint, infection of the joint, or age. Other arthritis forms are rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and related autoimmune diseases.

Arthritis pain is often a constant and may be localized to the joint affected. The inflammation can be caused by damage to the joint from disease, daily wear and tear of the joint, muscle strains caused by forceful movements against stiff painful joints, fatigue and even infection by bacteria or a virus.

Usually the joint inflammation goes away after the cause is treated. Sometimes it does not. Depending on the type of arthritis you have, your signs and symptoms may include: pain, stiffness, swelling, redness and decreased range of motion.  Relief from this discomfort and pain can be found by a prescription from your doctor or for those looking for relief without side effects- supplements and herbal remedies may be the choice.

Vita Logic Anti-Inflammatory Formula is an innovative herbal supplement that combines both pain-relieving and inflammation-reducing herbs to promote complete healing of injured or inflamed tissues.

Curamin is a powerful formulation of Curcumin, Boswellia and other herbs that enhance the body’s natural defense mechanisms for the relief of inflammation and pain due to overuse.

Vita Logic Joint Formula and Flexcin are targeted joint health formulations that work well with anti-inflammatory supplements to provide maximum relief. Vita Logic Joint Formula is a synergistic nutrient blend designed to help improve joint structure, function, and mobility. The blend supports joint health through nourishment of the entire joint capsule including the bone, ligaments, and tendons. Flexcin is one of the most powerful supplements for helping to control joint pain and inflammation. It contains a combination of all natural ingredients, each of which has been shown to dramatically improve joint health and flexibility including CM8, a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. Additionally, it acts as a highly effective lubricant in joints, muscles and other tissues, allowing them to move more smoothly.

Here are a few nutritional and lifestyle tips that may support overall joint health:

  • Keep your diet low in fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol, and moderate in sugars.
  • Eat a variety of foods, including whole grain products, vegetables, and fruit.
  • Choose foods rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants like salmon, lake trout, and albacore tuna, as well as fish oil, contain high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids which help to lubricate joints.
  • Regular exercise can help keep your joints flexible. Swimming or water aerobics is often a good choice because the buoyancy of the water reduces stress on weight-bearing joints.  The slow, stretching movements associated with yoga and tai chi may help improve joint flexibility and range of motion in people with some types of arthritis.

You do not have to live with pain and inflammation on a daily basis. Adding these supplements to your regimen and maintaining a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle are important to lessening these conditions. As always, The Institute for Healthy Living is your resource for these and other quality supplements.
