I have been listening to you off and on for quite a while now (on KCXL/KCTO in K.C MO). A few weeks ago I was pleased when you spoke about the way Thyroid disease is treated today and how it might be different in another 20 years or so.
You were right on target! I am a 58 year old male. In1990 I was diagnosed with Graves disease. It was brought under control with medication and after a few weeks I was told that for permanant control I needed to have he thyroid abalted with radioactive Iodine. Then I would just take a little pill each day and I would be fine. I did that and have not been fine since!! However I did learn a lot about Thyroid disease and I can tell you most doctors are pitifully lacking in thyroid knowledge.
Yesterday on your program you spoke to a woman who had taken Armour Thyroid for years and was roubled because they have stopped making it. She in now being forced to take Synthroid or some other synthetic substitute. You said “you didn’t understand why it bothered her to take one drug opposed to another”. You broke my heart. Your couldn’t be more wrong in that approach.
First of all, Armour Thyroid was not a drug. It was a very delicately processed food. It was pure dessicated pig thyroid which was assayed very precisely to yield very accurate doses. I was aggressively bad mouthed by the makers of Synthroid which was pushed to doctors as the “GOLD STANDARD” for replacement therapy. Synthroid was and is a Huge fraud!
A few years ago the FDA found that Synthroid was never tested nor was it approved by them. Instead it slipped under the radar in a kind of back door grandfather process. Furthermore the FDA found no evidence from the data it did have that it or any of the other synthetics were even an effective therapy. The synthetics with one exception just supply the T4 hormone. We are told that is all that is needed because your body changes T4 to T3 so it can be used in the cell.
Your own thyroid produces both T3 and T4 in about a 4 to 1 ratio and Armour was the only one that has both and in the correct ratio.
I have never done well with Synthroid. When I first took it my skin crawled…I about went nuts. I took Levothroid instead and did a little better. I finally convinced my doctor to let me try Armour Thyroid and I did feel better but my insurance company would not pay for Armour Thyroid so I have been taking Synthroid or some other generic of synthroid since then and I gain about 4-5 pounds a year, have little energy and suffer what they are calling metabolic syndrome. I would love to continue because I have a lot of information and experience to share but I think I am running out of space here. Feel free to email me if you would like to find out how much you think you know about Thyroid is wrong. Thanks Jim Alexander.
Thanks for writting, many of your points are valid. I am aware of all the points you make. Armour thyroid is being taken off the market. It was always classified as a prescription drug because of the many side effects including: chest pain, irregular heartbeat, tremors, insomnia, and difficulty breathing. Drugs are regulated because of their dangers not because of their source. For you, taking an extract of the thyroid gland from a pig was not a problem for many others it has been.
My passion for the topic of thyroid disfunction is evidenced by the fact the first learning series we completed was dedicated to the thyroid. I empathize with you having been convinced to have your thyroid destroyed. I do feel strongly that Thyroid Formula and Daily Extra will benefit you.
Thanks for your continued support of Duke and the Dcotor.
Dr McBarron:
We love your show.We are in AZ. People think we are addicted the way we encourage them to listen to You and the Duke (actually we are)!
We found you through Internet radio(Squeezebox by Logitech).Don’t buy an internet radio unless you are pre-

health & other presentations around the world. Of course they are not the scholarly/academic articles that
you sift through and graciously share with your “Radio Family” .Don’t know how you find the time! You both are always so well prepared and most entertaining. Hopefully you will get some stress free R&R in Las
Vegas after all the presentations and festivities are over. If not come see us in our dry heat state some
time. However after all those years on the radio,It does appear that your Namebrand has exploded beyond…
By the way,Here is a big congratulation and hug on your well deserved national award. It is evident m-f.
We have only one question:
We found a yogart at Walmart called the Greek Gods “…from cows not…with rbST/rbGH”.Ingredients are: Milk,Cream,Pectin and Cultures (S.Thermophilus,L.Bulgaricus,LAcidophilus,Bifidobacterium,L.Casei).
Their website is: http://www.3greekgods.com.
We realize that this product does not compare to Natren’s “Healthy Trinity especially when HT details the
specific percentage of their ingredients. Although this Yogart has simular ingredients, they do not spell out
percentages and amounts etc.
QUESTION:Given the above;does one get more “bang for their buck” with this second best (if that) product?

There is no doubt that yogurt is one of the healthiest foods on the planet. It is almost always listed on various top ten lists of superfoods. Rember that it not only helps restore good bacteria in your gut but also boosts your immune system. I really enjoy making it myself at home and think there is no comparison to any commercially produced yogurt regardless of brand. I use Natren’s Yogurt Starter and the only other ingredient is milk. I like that when I make my own I know exactly what goes into it and the exact preperation method. The instructions for making yogurt are very specific especially regarding temperature. I am not always confident that commercial producers follow the stringent procedures necessary to protect the active, living cultures. Therefore I really don’t have much confidence in any commercially produced brands. I did however visit the websit you mentioned and it appears that the 3 Greek Guys brand would be one of the best commercially produced brands available. So if I were to use a store bought brand I would certainly consider 3 Greek Guys.
By the way if you are looking for a very tasty recipe try the Yogurt Cheese and Blue Cheese Dip. It takes a little work but is a very delicious, nutritious way to enjoy the health benefits of yogurt, especially if you like blue cheese.
I am a recent college graduate, which means I am on a very fixed income. I’ve been trying to get all the vitamins, supplements, and the like that I think I need, but I am often struggling with which one I should go without for any given month. I was hoping you could give me some guidance into which one I should keep as a permanent part of my routine. Currently, I try to take the following:
Daily Extra, Immune Formula (since I work with small kids), Adrenal Formula (since I suffered fatigue before hand), Stressed Out, Vitamin C 500, Allergy Formula & Xlear Nasal Spray (since I suffer from seasonal allergies), and really want to start Natren’s Healthy Trinity.
Also, is there any specific way I should be taking each of the following. I typically take Daily Extra, Immune Formula, Allergy Formula, and Adrenal Formula together, then take the rest together at a later time in the day.
Please let me know the best way I can stay healthy on the income I have.
The question is about ladies and burping. I now work with a girl who burps loud and long, almost as though she were trying to win a contest. She burps around 3 or 4 times in the morning and likewise in the afternoon. She grew up with 3 brothers, and I contend she was copying them; probably this was cute when she was young and she got into the habit of being “cute.” Well, it’s not cute. She wants to be treated like a princess but the burping (plus she has a potty mouth) ruins her chances of this. I guess I just wanted to know if there’s really some physical problem that she needs to have looked at or whether she just needs to stop competing with her brothers, etc. She says that she has mentioned this to a doctor who suggested digestive enzymes that she said helped but she does not even try to suppress these burps; I can’t help but believe she has just developed a bad habit of swallowing air and pushing out a burp to draw attention. She’s 24 and is going to (mysteriously) lose out on a number of opportunities unless she realizes this is not on the agenda at most finishing schools for young ladies.
I too am very interested in thryoid discussion, since I lost mine two years ago to graves disease. Now I may be somewhat different since I actually felt a lot better on levothyroxine than I did the previous 10 years of my life.
But I’ve battled weight loss most of my life too and feared I would keep gaining now that I had no thyroid. Well, I’ve lost 35 pounds now and have some more to go, and I’m going to get there. The simple plain truth is exercise, and there’s no getting around it. There is no magic drug, and believe me, I tried them all. Even if you just take a few steps, or walk to the end of the street, that’s more than zero, and that’s the attitude you need to start with: More than zero. And every day add a little more.
But, if there ever was a magic drug, I’ll tell you this. A few months ago I got turned on the the Thryoid Formula from Vitalogic. Mostly at the insistence of my wife who is a fan of the show. Anyway, literally within days, I felt even twice as better as before. Now at 42 I’m planning on cycling and maybe even a triathalon by next year.
A question I have, if anyone (or the good doctor) can answer, is that I’m reading some things that might link my thyroid problems with nasal polyps, which I was diagnosed with soon after my radioactive iodine procedure. My family also has a history with Addison’s Disease, which I’m confident I will be diagnosed with someday as they are all related. Somehow I feel these all tie in with my nasal problems, and probably other minor annoyances.
Since I’ve already ruled out surgery for these due to the horror stories I keep hearing about them coming back, is there something else I can be doing that might help shrink of even get rid of nasal polyps altogether? And, if I’m taking the Thryoid Formula, is it okay to also take the Adrenal Formula as well?
I hope you can suggest something?
I visited my doctor about a year ago because I am having problems with pressure in the back of my head and neck. Often when I sleep on my tummy with my head turned to the right, I have to literally pick my head up with both my hands to sit up. It’s like something in my head & neck hardens and falls asleep. I reported this to my Dr. last December. She didn’t think it was much of a problem and told me try not to sleep that way.
I also told her of my concern with my left leg and burses I get from time to time out of nowhere. I look and they are just there. Both of my legs were throbbing to the bone. She suggested I get more exercise and lose some weight. I’m 43 years old 6’5 and at that time was weighing 169 pounds. So I took her advice I am down to 145 and I try to walk everyday at least 30 minutes. That has helped the throbbing leg situation. However, now I feel tingles in my left leg and my toes get numb from time to time.
Same thing with my Left arm tingles, throbbing and fingers numb from time to time.
Sunday I finally went to the emergency room. WOW left more hurt then when I went in. They did a scan, found nothing, but then did a spinal Tab, still nothing. I have had an unbearable headache for 3 days now and still the same head, neck, arm, and leg situation. I called the Dr. for my follow up, can’t get in for a couple of weeks, emergency room said the headaches will go away and drink water and MT Dew.
Unfortunately the Canadian government has restrictions on the supplements that enter your country so a supplement that we have here in the U.S. may not be available there.
Hi Dr. a friend reffered me to you on help with finding out the reasoning behind all of my sons medical problems. He is one years old and has had a rough year. We see numerous different doctors for different reasons and they all kept telling me that he prob. had something geneticly wrong with him and so we saw genetics and they told me they think he does too but they are not sure what and told me that they do not have good enough testing to point them in the right direction. Since birth he has been through, severe reflux, a soy and dairy intolerence, hip dysplasia, Hypotonia, development delay, a large soft spot that is still open, and he is farsighted. We see physical therapy once a week and occupational therapy twice aweek. We are also waiting on a speech evaluation. He is sick all the time, ear infections constantly, along with rigth now he has C-Diff, three weeks ago he had phnemonia, and he always is congested and has a cold, at three months old he had RSV. Now I know there has to be a reason to why he was born with so many problems. Please help.
I have pasted a web article I thought you might find interesting. It is about a recent and more dedicated interest in Ayurveda and the steps being taken at the Institute of Ayurveda and Integrated Medicine. http://www.sciencemag.org/content/334/6062/1491.full
I wanted you to know I recently decided to try Curamin. I had just about given up on ever finding relief from the constant pains I have suffered for over 20 years due to arthritis and two ruptured discs (L-4 and L-5). I am 60 years old and have been performing lawn care and landscaping since I was 8 years old. I have always been energetic and love to work hard. Yet, in the last five years or so the arthritis in my hands, knees, ankles and back along with the pains from the 2 ruptured discs had made my 6 days-a-week, 8 to 12 hours per day tasks more and more difficult to perform.
Close to two years ago I had begun a diet determined by Internet research in hopes to discover foods that did not encourage inflammation while at the same time I looked for foods that built and repaired muscles as well as foods that are high in anti-oxidants. I had heard you and Duke speak often of the Mediterranean diet and only recently decided to look it up. Much to my pleasure I learned that the foods I have been eating are all part of that diet. I have been, by the way, also taking Daily Extra and Immune Formula for close to 6 months now.
So, I was doing all I thought I could to ease the pains due to inflammation and to keep my body healthy but the aches continued. Finally … and I will admit out of desperation … I decided to try Curamin. I am overwhelmed with the results. Within twenty-four hours of taking it the inflammation in all areas with arthritis have ceased. Today marks one month since my first capsule. The extreme tenderness in my lower back at the site of the 2 ruptured discs no longer exists. It had always been painful to even the slightest touch. And on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the often excruciating pain I was experiencing throughout … especially in my hands … I am pleased to say it is down to a 1 or 2 … if even that. For that I am very, very grateful. Thanks for telling me about and selling me (@PNF @ The Landings) this wonderful product !!! Mike in Columbus
Mike, Thank you for this comment about your experience with Curamin, it is an excellent supplement, you may also want to try some Anti-inflammatory Formula by Vita Logic, you can see by its name it is for inflammation.I tried to access the article that you speak of but it is available only if you have a subscription to Science Magazine. Thank you again for this comment.
Dear McBarron
My mother was diagnosed with first stage Huntington diseases at age 73. Since HD is inherited we know that she got it from her father. She will not take any meds that the doctor gives her. At this point she has more of the mental then the movements. She is very mean and will fight my dad. We know that we have a very long road ahead of us if this is just the first stage. Do you have any suggest that can help us on the road. As I’m sure you know there is a 50 percent chance I have it. At 54 I do not show any signs of the disease and have decided not to be tested at this time.
I listen to your radio show quite often. I really enjoy the information that I hear on your show. I’m 25 years of age and i’m currently a college student. I am working on adapting to healthy lifestyle habits for my entire body.
My concern is the effects of taking fish oil supplements with a food allergy to fish. I can not consume fish; I am allergic to fish. Are there any other suggestions that you would recommend instead of fish oil products?
DR. MCBARRON,
I JUST CAUGHT THE “TAIL-END’ OF YOU DISCUSSION ON TOE FUNGUS ON APRIL 17TH. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO TO MAKE IT GO AWAY? I WANT TO WEAR CUTE SUMMER SHOES….TOES ARE NOT TERRIBLY BAD, BUT TENDER AND THE NAIL HAS TURNED LOOSE ON LEFT BIG TOE. THANK YOU.
I am a 59 year old female with a small hiatal hernia and excessive dry mouth and No Saliva and heartburn. In October, 2007 I had two feet of my intestines removed due to a blockage. Recently I got relief from bloating, stomach upset and bowel troubles because I eat smaller meals and do not eat after 7Pm. My Gastroenterologist prescribed Pantoprazole (40mg) but we could not get approval by insurance to take it twice daily. The Dr. wanted me to try Ranitidine (300mg 2x daily) because of the heartburn and acid reflux I was experiencing. My Dr. recommended I try Dexilant but I tried that for only a few day s because it really upset my stomach. I am currently taking Carafate (1gm) three times daily which is helping. I still have a very metallic taste in my mouth and extremely dry mouth. I take Healthy Trinity and exercise daily and have lost 50 pounds and drink lots of water. I want to get off the prescription medication for gastric issues and I seek natural remedies. Can you please offer some suggestions as to what I should do. I thank you very much and enjoy your show very much
Dr. McBarron, I have tried to call but can’t get thur. I have been taking the purple pill for years. My Insurance company stopped paying for it. I heard a caller say something about “Stomach Formula” I started taking that along with Healthy Trinity,D3,Herpanacine,Daily Extra,Prevagen, and Flexcin. I am 65 yrs. old and up to date I have not had any problems with reflux since I started the Stomach Formula. I love your show and listen when I can. I drive rental cars and can’t hear all of the program, but I listen as much as I can. Thank you and God Bless you and Duke for what you do.
Dr. McBarron, My wife is 42 yrs old and has Type 2 Dieb. The Doctor perscribed; Techlite Mis Lancets, Lisinopril, Metformin and Simvastatin. I have heard you talk about some being bad. She does not want to take all of that. Is there a supplement that she can take along with the Diet and Exercise.

Hi Dr.McBarron,
I like and agree with much of a previous writer,Jim Alexander on the topic of thyroid.
I also did very well with armour thyroid as I don’t have a thyroid at all.The synthroid
is terrible in that I too have gained an incredible amount of weight since I’ve been
off the armour,as well as very fatigued and constipated once more. Can you explain
the thyroid formula and daily extra, for replacing what a thyroid once did.I felt very
tired when I took this protocol in the past.Am I missing something?I would love to
this combination work so please help me to understand better.
Thanks,Teri

We see physical therapy once a week and occupational therapy twice aweek. We are also waiting on a speech evaluation. He is sick all the time, ear infections constantly, along with rigth now he has C-Diff, three weeks ago he had phnemonia, and he always is congested and has a cold, at three months old he had RSV. Now I know there has to be a reason to why he was born with so many problems. Please help.
Thank You, Ashley
You really need to call the show with your question. Other people that have children with health problems could learn from Dr. McBarron’s answer.
I have pasted a web article I thought you might find interesting. It is about a recent and more dedicated interest in Ayurveda and the steps being taken at the Institute of Ayurveda and Integrated Medicine.

Dr. McBarron recommends Prevagen, Nordic Naturals Omega 3, and Vita Logic Whole Food Multi for you and your mother.
Dear Dr. McBarron
THANK YOU.
Dr. McBarron recommends Tea tree oil and Vita Logic Parasite Formula.
